Irish National Heritage Park

 

The Irish National Heritage Park takes visitors through 9,000 years of history. Learn about different historical periods on the heritage trails, depicting the first settlements in Ireland up to the arrival of the Normans in the 12th century. Choose from Pre-Historic Ireland, Early Christian Ireland or the Age of Invasion, and view replicas of prehistoric campsites, ringforts, crannogs and Viking houses.

curracloe beach

 Curracloe Beach

 

A beautiful stretch of sand along the coastline extending from the Special Area of Conservation at the Raven Point to Ballyconniger Head, which is approximately 10 miles long making it the perfect destination for a bracing stroll. Overlooking Wexford Bay and the Irish Sea, it is bordered on the west by sand dunes. Curracloe beach was famously used in the filming of the D-Day landings scenes of the 1997 film, Saving Private Ryan as well as 2015 romance drama film, Brooklyn with Saoirse Ronan.

johnstown castle

Johnstown Castle

 

This restored 19th-century Castle with its unique servants’ tunnel – the longest domestic servants’ tunnel in Ireland, you can take a guided tour of the castle or simply take a walk through the 4kms of gardens with its picturesque lake.  There is the Irish Agricultural Museum which displays one of the most comprehensive exhibits of farming and rural life in Ireland as well as a café and retail area in the visitor centre.
